Unlike its neighbors, Ecuador has not suffered from instability caused by left-wing guerrilla action. Minor groups, such as "Alfaro Vive" and "íCarajo!," have joined the legal political process. Ecuador is classified by the USA as a "transit country" for drugs, and received $6.2 million in anti-drug aid in 1992. Several aircraft have also been donated to help combat trafficking.
